Heavenly Bible Study

Two weeks ago today, we had Bible Study very much nearer the heavens than we had been used to. It was the annual AMFS President’s Picnic on top of Aspen Mountain, which rises about 3200 feet above the town to a height of around 11,000 feet. What all this meant was a free ride up on the new gondolas (this regularly costs about $20) and a very tasty free lunch from the restaurant at the top. With all of that going for us, we decided to enjoy the beauty of the mountains as we looked into Hebrews. We had a splendid study, and the ride, food, and views were spectacular. From the top, one has a view of about a dozen peaks, some of which are fourteeners. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Every Friday somebody from the AMFS plays a concert up there in a series called “Music on the Mountain” –no relation, of course, to this blog :-). Last week our chamber music coach, John Graham, gave a recital there on electric viola. The only catch is, one must either hike up there (2-3 hours) or ride the (not free) gondola. Bummer.

Beautiful! I don't know that I would ride up on that gondola, though.
